Under the sport golf the difference between professional and amateurs are strictly maintained. If amateurs play tournaments for cash they will lose their amateur status for ever. A professional never play in amateur competitions. Professional golfers are classified into two different classes. Majority of the golfers find a means for their living by operating golf clubs, teaching games and selling golf equipments.  In American English the word ‘golf pro’ denotes the individuals engaged in a service other than golf. Club professional is the term used in golf clubs to denote an aged professional golfer. But the golfer gets the title director of golf if he is working in a large resort or golf club with various courses. If any of the golfers have assistants who work as registered proficient golfers, they are identified as junior professionals. The golfer who teaches golf lessons are popularly known as golf instructor, golf coach or teaching professional. A small group of professional golfers who earns their livelihood by taking part in golf tournaments are the second category of professional golf players.
