The technique of evaluating the recital level of the professional male golfers is known as Official World Golf Rankings. This system was introduced in the year 1986 and got the approval of four main championships and the International Federation of PGA Tours. It was the championship commission of Royal and Ancient Golf club of St. Andrews which took the initiative to set up this system. The board of the Official World Golf Ranking includes leaders of the major tour and golf organisations of the world and its chairman is Mark McCormack. The primary ranking catalogue was issued before the Masters Tournament conducted in 1986. Berhard Langer, Sandy Lyle, Seve Ballesteros, Tom Watson, Greg Norman and Mark O’ Meara were the top ranked golfers. The ranks are awarded in accordance with the net positions of the players in their official travel around events on their qualifying tours.
