Besides, being a good golfer, Woods has established many charitable and youth ventures. He established a Tiger Woods Foundation in 1966.It mainly deals with projects for children.  In the beginning, they contained golf clinics and a grant program. Then University scholarship programmes were added.                                                          A character development programme was started. By 2003, the programme reached one million participants.
The Tiger Woods Foundation has arranged junior golf clinics across the country. In 2003, the foundation began golf clinic programmes. The first three programmes were held in Indio, California, and Puerto Rico.  The youth aged 7-17 were targeted. A three-day event featured golf lessons and community festivals.
Tiger Woods learning Center is a 35,000 sq. ft. educational facility in Anaheim, California. It was opened in February 2006 and is expected to cater to
several thousands of students each year in grades 4 to 12. The Centre will comprise seven classrooms, with extensive multimedia facilities and an outdoor golf teaching area.
Other than charity activities, Woods has written a golf instruction column
in Golf Digest magazine since 1997.  In 2001 he wrote a book, How I play golf.
It had sold around 1.5 million copies. Woods has developed a company called Tiger Woods Design. He has announced that he will develop a first golf course in the United Arab Emirates.
Woods generally avoids politics. However, in January 2009, he spoke at the Obama Inaugural celebration at the Lincoln Memorial.
