| Natural features of Augusta National Golf Club
The natural features of the Augusta National Golf Club includes a big oak tree, Eisenhower tree, Ike’s Pond and Rae’s Creek. The big oak tree, which is around 145-150 years old and planted in the 1850s, is located on the golf course side of the clubhouse. Eisenhower Tree, located on the 17th hole, is a loblolly pine.
The general Eisenhower, during his visit to Augusta National, informed Clifford Roberts (Chairman of the club) that he had discovered an ideal place to construct a dam if the Club would like a fish pond. This pond was constructed and named and the dam is situated where at the preferred place of Eisenhower. Rae’s Creek cuts crosswise the southereastern turn of the Augusta National Golf Club. It flows ahead of the 13th tree, in front of the 12th green and along the back of the 11th green. This is the lowest end in the altitude of the course.
