The term golf cup gives an indication of golf ball collected in the cup. The golf cup has an interior wall which is cylindrical in shape. A golf cup consists of an insert which is made from a material that is non-metallic in nature. It is placed in the interior part so as to form double chambers. The arrangement of the insert and the chambers are assembled in such a way so as to get an audible indication in response to an object. Here the object refers to the golf ball which is dropped into the internal part of golf cup through the opening at the receiving edge.
Initially, golf cups were made of metal, which produces a metallic sound when the ball is dropped by the golfer. The sound thus produced was a pleasure and an encouragement to the golfer in the game. Due to their corrosive and expensive nature, the metal cups are presently replaced by the plastic cups. The plastic cups have more capacity to withstand the environment and the different climatic conditions.
