| Senior major championships
There are no globally accepted major championships for seniors. That is for the golf players of age 50 and above. Champion tours hold the list of majors. Even though the senior major list is frequently changing, it showed expansion and none of the championship has lost its status. There are five major championships for the seniors. They are U.S. Senior Open, Senior British Open, Senior PGA Championship, Senior Players Championship and The Tradition.
Senior PGA Championship holds the credit for the oldest existing senior golf championship. This event was commenced in 1937. Remaining all the events were started at the time of 1980 as a result of the commercial success of Senior PGA championship for being the first golf stars to appear in television era.
Until 2003, Champion tours have not accepted The Senior British Open as a major. Champion Tour said to be more dominant in world senior gold field than that of U.S. LPGA in women's golf.
