| LORENA OCHOA
Lorena Ochoa is the number one ranked female golfer in the world. She is a Mexican golfer, who plays in the US based LPGA Tour and is considered as the best Mexican golfer of all time.
Born in November 15, 1981 she took up golf at the age of five. She won her first state event at the age of six. At seven, she won her first national event. As a junior, she won 22 state events and 44 national events. On a golf scholarship, she enrolled herself in University of Arizona. In 2001 and 2002, she won the NCAA player of the year awards. She was presented with Mexico’s National Sports Award and she was the first golfer to get such an award. She received the 2003 Nancy Lopez Award for the outstanding amateur female golfer.
She turned professional after leaving university, and won three of the ten events played. In 2005, she won the Wegman’s Rochester LPGA. In 2006, she scored 62, tied the record for lowest score by a golfer. By the end of 2007, she won six tournaments. In 2007, she became the world number one ranked golfer. She won her second major championship in April 2008. Rafael Alarcon, a Mexican professional, coaches her.
The Ochoa Sports Management represents Lorena Ochoa. The management operates LPGA corona Championship. Lorena Ochoa Foundation runs a primary school.
