JACK NICKLAUS-A PROFESSIONAL GOLFER

Jack Nicklaus is considered as one of the most successful and professional golfers of all time.
Born to a pharmacist In Columbus, Ohio in the year 1940, he was brought up in Upper Arlington and attended a high school there. He started to play golf at the age of ten, shooting 51 for his first nine holes. At 13, he bettered his record by breaking 70. When he was 12, he won the first of five state junior titles. At 16, he won the Ohio Open. He represented United States in 1959 and 1961 against Great Britain and Ireland and won the Walker Cup.
He started his professional career in 1962.He had his first professional win
In 1962 by defeating Arnold Palmer and won the 1962 U.S. Open. He won two of the four major tournaments the Masters and the PGA Championship in 1963.
He won the Masters again in 1965 and 1966, becoming the first consecutive winner of this event. He won the 1967 U.S.Open. Between 1971 and 1980, he further posted nine major championship wins. At the age of 46, he won the 1986 Masters tournament. He continued to play until 2005 and made his final appearance at the Open Championship and the Masters Tournament in 2005.
He has set several records on his name. He is one of the longest and straight hitters of his times. His course management skills are excellent.
His other ventures are book writing and running his own tournament named the Memorial tournament. He has a Golf design company which is one of the largest in the world. His book ‘Golf My Way’ is considered one of the best instructional golf books of all time.
