Presently, there are no globally accepted major golf championships for women. LPGA tour conducts the major golf championships for women. LPGA conducts four major championships for women. They are Kraft Nabisco Championship, LPGA Championship, U.S. Women's Open and Women's British Open. The last one of these tournaments is also known as Ladies European Tour.
Another event that is said to be the major is Evian Masters. Even though this is not treated as a major event by LPGA, the event is promoted as a regular event of LPGA. But the importance of this event is controlled or limited by LPGA as they have more dominancy in women golf than that of PGA in the field of Men’s Golf Championships.
For several years Ladies European Tour was controlled by LPGA by an untold agreement and the tour not schedules any of its events to compete with other three LPG majors conducted in United States. But the situation changed in the year 2008 and Ladies European Tours started to schedule their own events against the LPGA championships.
