Golf course adjustments in Masters Tournament

The Masters Tournament setup has been extended in recent years like many other golf courses. In 1998, the length of this golf course is about 6925 yards. It was again elongated to 7270 yards in the year 2002. Again in the year 2006, the golf course was elongated to 7445 yards. The changes appealed many critics such as Tiger Woods, Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, and Gary Player, who were the most victorious golfers.

Initially, the grass on the course was broad-bladed Bermuda. During 1970s, the Bermuda which is narrow-bladed was introduced. It grew thicker and the pace of the greens got slowed. In the year 1978, the greens that were on the Par-3 golf course were again constructed with bentgrass. Bentgrass is also a species which is narrow-bladed that could be cut shorter, expelling the grain. For the 1981 Masters, the greens on the chief golf course were substituted with the bentgrass. The bentgrass gradually led to the faster putting golf course surfaces which needed a decrease in the contours of greens.
